Multimonitor support

I'd like to see multi-monitor support for the game, not just simple monitor bridging, but a seperate interface for each monitor that you can switch the mouse to through a hotkey. Basically several independent GUI's all working together. This would be extremely useful for cordinating attacks and managing seperate groups across the map.

You could probabally pull off multiple interfaces on one monitor, kind of like how linux has multiple desktops that you can use all independently of eachother on a single monitor as well but this would probabally cause a preformance hit because of having to render a whole new secton of the map all at once.

Alot of people would take advantage of this I bet, ive got like 3 monitors laying around that are just taking up space at the moment. It would be handy if the GUI was heavily customizeable with an external or internal tool, with components and windows you can turn on and off. Like the ability to resize the minimap, or dedicate it to one whole monitor for example.

I've used dual displays for years. Something like this for SUPCOM would be pretty cool. I'd want something easily switchable for those on single displays, as there's no reason to give all the advantage to people with dual (or, dare I say more?) displays. Perhaps, as tarfu suggested, we could have something modular, so that we can plug things in where it suits us. I'm not sure how difficult that would be, but it'd be nice, and quite welcome.

I've already commented on this on another thread (Dual Head Support).

But to summarize, it'd present an unfair advantage for the player with multiple monitors that someone with only a single monitor can't compensate for without spending hundreds of bucks on another monitor.

And before anyone brings in the 56kers and high ping argument, that doesn't work because a player with a slow connection can compensate for high ping by leading all his shots.

Play nice boys, or the mods will break out the ban-bat.

Back on topic, dual+ monitor setups does sound very cool. I wonder how it would interact with the normal screen-edge scrolling most people use?

Hell, even just a dual monitor span would give awesome, panoramic battlefields. How long till someone with 2x dual-output cards runs a 2x2 quad-setup? You would have to sit on the other side of the room or get a sore neck from looking up.

I'd like it. I've got a spare monitor lying about and a Dual-output card so bring it GPG! One thing that would be cool is a standard gaming view with control menu on one part of the screen and field action on the other, while the other monitor displays a full panoramic view of the entire battlefield, switchable to some menus for extra control etc.

I second the "play nice" motion. Anyone oppose?

i use 2 monitors and there are almost no games which support 2, and if they do it is limited or buggy.

I just wanted to say that after taking a break from this debate, I realized that I've been a bit of an a**. So I concede this debate and leave it to GPG to figure out how to best pull it off, and I apologize for getting so worked up over all this.

Flame war deleted. A couple of interesting points were lost as casualties.

Place nice, folks.

I think you mean "play nice", but I concur, the place is nice.
