Eurogamer beta keys Competition - ends Monday Oct 23rd

Thursday, October 19, 2006 - 04:39

If I didn't pass on the links to other people here - technically I would have a higher chance of 'winning' - but ....

Eurogamer have a competion for 200 spots in the "closed beta" - check it out here.

It would be nice if DT12 can confirm/deny any wheeling and dealing that is seen here but it seems to go through the publisher THQ, who knows.....

Thanks for the info!

Nice to see a competition being open to Europeans only for once Eye-wink
Most of the time it's US only.

Agreed. That should limit the number of entries considerably. Eye-wink

Closing date for this competition is Monday, October 23rd

Hmmm... so probably the ones that are picked on all websites, including this one, will be announced sometime after the 23rd? Most probably during that week I'd guess

I'd imagine a third-party site is free to give out the keys later than GPG, but not before. The rules state "All entries must reach us by Monday, October 23rd, at which point the winners will be selected." which strongly suggests that they'll give out the keys at exactly that day. Which would imply that GPG will give theirs out at or before that date.

I imagine it is offical, and is also a rather large hint to when we'll see the beta.

I'm wondering if entering this one while already having entered the one at this forum will mark you as a duplicate

I hope DT12 can answer this, but from my understanding they are just throwing out the duplicate.  Which to me is that you can only win once.

So if you win the Eurogamer competition and are drawn as a winner on GPG forum, you will only get one key.

I hope thats the case becuase if you have two keys then youre just a douchebag hoarding two keys.

But if you have more than one email...

Not that there would be much point in having more than one key.. other than to be selfish and try and sell it on.

I wonder if the duplicate pruning will occur before or after drawing the winners? And if before, which version will be kept?

So 400 people are certain to get in (PC-Zone/Eurogame comp winners) does this mean 400 less from the pool of forum registered users, or 400 extra?

I've just been told that this is legit, something THQ set up.
Have at it! Smiling

Note that one of the rules states the contest is for Europeans only.

As this contest goes through THQ and not GPG, I've no idea how they're doing things (in terms of duplicates or selection) - that applies to any other, non-Garage websites too. Their selection process does not involve GPG.

In the case of GPG, duplicates (and invalid) entries were removed prior to the selections being made.

Am I correct in reading that to say that the selections have already been made?

Thanks for the information of both website. I was to late to signup for beta on the officiel forums, so maybe I win now Smiling
