Bug with factory assisting

Thursday, November 2, 2006 - 12:54

Hi,

i found a bug with the factory assisting thing and i post it here because i cant acces (sp.?) the official beta/bug forum. and i dont think that anyone else had this bug yet.

this is what happend to me:

i build a tech 1 factory and a second one (i wanted to test factory assisting)

then i teched the first one to tech 2 and set heavy tank to infinite.
then set the second one to assist the first one. of course it didnt do anything because of tech 1.

then i pressed at the tech 1 factory the upgrade button for tech2. then selected the upgrading factory and pressed, while upgrading to lvl. 2, to assist the first one.

then something stange happend.
the first factory stopped upgrading. but the upgrading bar was still there but now at the beginning.

ok then i though... maybe i click upgrade again.. pressed it and i was instantly in the tech 3 building menue...
i though: maybe i pressed it two times or something... and aborted it.. then i coulndt press the upgrade button anymore..

ok i said and told my commander to help that factory finish its unknown constructing of something. the bar was still filling up slowly..

then as it was finished, i pressed it and i had a tech3 factory... and a tech 1 factory.. in one.. two factorys at the same place... that means that i build a tech 3 factory out of nowhere. i still had my tech1 factory plus that tech 3 factory.. it looked very strange.

can somebody test this and then maybe post it in the official forum? thanks.

this was as much as i can remember... maybe i pressed something double.. but it began at the point where i upgraded the second factory to tech2 and then told it to assis the first one.

I don't think you witnessed a bug, and my apologies if I am wrong, but your post was kind of hard to read.

1) a factory assisting another factory will stop assisting to build it's own q, and then go back to assisting.

2) the moment you press the upgade button, your menu changes to that of the structure you are upgrading to, so, a tech 2 in progress to becoming a tech 3, can q units to build on completion.

3) all factories and engineers can build prior tech versions, so you can have a tech 3 facroty w/ the tech 1 tab selected to build tech 1 units, tech 2 tab selected for tech 2, or the default tech 3 tab for tech 3 units.

hope that makes sense and answers your question.

I don't think you had a bug. from what i can figure from your post is you just had a weird experience with the status bar maybe. lol
if your upgrading anything. you cant tell it to do anything. it'll reset for some reason(same with the ACU).
So not sure.
but all assisting factories need to be the same tech to help at 100%(to get all units to assist with)

the problem was: i could drag a "quater" (sp.?) around the factory and i saw 2 factorys. so i wasnt confused about the build menue or anything.. i will test that out..
