Big bugs still !!!

I thought I could start playing 53 more but alas i am still getting strange bugs.

Here we are past gold and in the last day...

I had the lobby freeze up with 5 players in it and had to end supcom task (after some work) finally to quit it.
I had the desynch your game has been closed issue after loading a game.
I just had a game i played for near an hour only to freeze for a few seconds and then a box came up asking me to to kick the three other players. I could not close the box, could not just kick one, but had to kick all.
I forget what else.

This is a fresh/recent and unpolluted XP install.
I have no software firewall or AV/malware software running.

Just about every game I play it is something, if it's not bugs it's the game running at -10 due to someone having a weak system in 2 vs 2.

Apparently the net code for getting the game to resynch were their is packetloss/connection issues/synch issues seems to be really bad or nonexistant.

I know I will not be jumping through any hoops online to try and play 1 game in 3 without issues.

Are other people seeing things like this that shouldn't be around at this stage?

The game is running much smoother and is better balanced, but I agree there have been more crashes/problems. I've had a few random crashes, a few more issues with desyncs, and people randomly dropping out. I am not sure what of this is GPG's fault, and what is caused by modded games or poor connections/computers. I hope that these issues can be ironed out before the game hits shelves.

We got to do an interesting test.
We were playing a 1 v 1 on our lan via gpgnet. Suddenly the switch died, the game stoped and came up with the kick other players options.
20 mins later we found another switch, plugged it in and the game went straight back to where it left off with no problems.
So it can't be that bad.

u must remember some ppl dont have the patince of what u and your friend had. sometimes if my internet dies i do get a little frustrated, but i wont hard reset my comp. maybe these people a seeing this "desync" error and turning there comp off, idk.

+ u are at a LAN 100Mbit connection opposed to a 512/128Kbit or even if they have a 1.5MBit download and a 512Kbit upload. it still will not compare to 100Mbit connection.

and mad boris u better not turn into a "!" freak! Eye-wink

The very last thing that GPG wants is a -5 to -10% off the score reviewers give it just because of a few bugs.

One aspect is reviewers target the weak points, as they should.
But really the thing none of us want is to be investing time to be playing MP games when those games cannot be finished for reasons unknown. That will lose new customers and existing. Losing connections or people pc's crashing is one thing, but these other issues are possibly strange things in the game code that could allow for desynchs more prominantly, with the quazal components not being able to recover. COH had it's issues with networking after it went gold but Relic got things working smoother by release (although don't know how it is recently).

I will play some more today and hopefully not see more similar issues.
Maybe they were flukes.

Either way some reassurance that "we will fix this" made by devs during those first days when pre-existing bugs become more clear will go a long way.

Yeah although 53 is a nice step up above 52, It certainly isn't worthy of being the final version.

Problems will probably be eventually solved, but I really hope GPG has a much better build than 53 right now as I am experiancing a lot of problems.

I encountered a really interesting bug yesterday. Having just finished a game without a problem I went back to watch the replay. Half way through the replay I started getting the "Desync Detected" dialog box popping up every few seconds. This had not occured during the actual game, only the replay. I didn't post a bug about it because I lost the replay file. However, perhaps I should anyway.

In regards to release, one thought that has occured to me is that C&C3 releases in March. I'm sure that there are marketeers somewhere gettin' their panties in a bunch over that and applying all possible pressure for an earlier release for SC. Say, late February.

ill be playing through the entire single player game before touching multiplayer online - hopefully there is a couple of patches out by then Smiling

but i get the feeling the game is laggier and the frame rate lower than it was when the smoothed it up with that patch that introduced open palms.

Laggier? :: grabs his dictionary ::

I keed I keed...anyways, I don't find I get much lag outside of large 3v3 or 4v4 games. Even 2v2s with 1000 unit caps I don't have much of a problem. Unless, ofcourse, playing with somebody who has a horribly slow CPU Sad

Those 38,000 people don't play beta anymore, they have been lagged to death, hence you seem to get no lag now.
Just wait. Eye-wink

Same problems here, but this is normal for a beta. Anyway the retail won't be a 1000 to 1 improvement I guess, for this scope of complexity it is just unavoidable to have many bugs in the game. But the retail version runs then really good.
